The Opportunity

KPM is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2+ years of litigation experience to join its Norfolk office. This role offers hands-on defense litigation work, meaningful courtroom exposure, and the chance to collaborate closely with experienced attorneys in a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of approximately 30–40 active litigation matters, including discovery, depositions, motions, and client reporting.
• Handle defense matters involving personal injury, premises liability, products liability, general liability, and auto claims.
• Appear in both State and Federal Court as matters require.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
• Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals.
• Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal memoranda.
• Assist with trial preparation and overall case strategy.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active Virginia bar license in good standing.
• At least 2 years of litigation experience (more senior candidates welcome).
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a busy docket with minimal supervision.
• Prior insurance defense experience is helpful but not required.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
