Position: Associate Attorney – Workers' Compensation

Location: Orange County, CA
Employment Type: Remote (Full-Time) — Occasional travel to court as needed

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Workers' Compensation Attorney to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in workers' compensation law and a demonstrated commitment to representing Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, and employers.

This role involves providing expert legal counsel, managing workers' compensation claims, and advocating for clients throughout all phases of the legal process. The firm offers a collaborative, supportive, and flexible work environment with reasonable billing requirements and a strong emphasis on work-life balance. Remote work is available, provided the attorney remains responsive during standard business hours and attends mandatory in-person events as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in workers' compensation cases, including filing petitions, negotiating settlements, and advocating in administrative hearings or court.
  • Manage all aspects of each case from intake through resolution—gathering evidence, preparing legal documents, conducting depositions, and coordinating with medical professionals.
  • Negotiate effectively with opposing counsel to achieve favorable settlements for clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategy and ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
  • Provide clear and practical legal advice to clients regarding their rights, case status, and potential outcomes.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents such as claims, briefs, appeals, and reconsiderations; ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Handle lien negotiations, contribution issues, and penalty disputes as needed.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, and court proceedings, presenting arguments and evidence persuasively.
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients regarding case progress and inquiries.
  • Ensure all dictations and billings are completed effectively and submitted on time.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in workers' compensation law or a closely related practice area.
  • Certification in workers' compensation law is preferred but not required.
  • Strong negotiation, advocacy, and case management skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (LexisNexis experience is a plus).
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and manage digital case files efficiently.
  • Occasional travel to court hearings, client meetings, and firm events as needed.
  • Strong verbal communication and courtroom presentation skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $180,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
