Associate Biologist – Southern California

Full-Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt Location: Southern California (In-Person / Field Based)

Pay Range $33–$42 per hour, DOE

The Opportunity

Endemic is seeking a Full-Time, Hourly Associate Biologist to support environmental compliance and biological fieldwork across Southern California.

This role is well-suited for an early to mid-career biologist who enjoys field-based work, thrives in a collaborative consulting environment, and is interested in building technical experience under the guidance of Project Managers and senior biologists.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct biological field surveys, including wildlife, botanical, habitat, and preconstruction surveys
  • Document special-status species and sensitive habitats in accordance with agency protocols
  • Prepare accurate field notes, GPS data, maps, and photo documentation
  • Support the preparation of biological technical reports and compliance documentation
  • Participate in construction compliance monitoring and document project impacts
  • Coordinate field logistics, equipment, and site-specific safety planning
  • Communicate findings clearly and in a timely manner to Project Managers and senior biologists
  • Maintain organized datasets and assist with data quality assurance and control
  • Support project schedules by completing assigned tasks efficiently and professionally
  • Mentor or support field technicians, field biologists, or interns as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a closely related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in biological fieldwork, environmental consulting, or applied ecology
  • Familiarity with Southern California ecosystems, flora, and fauna
  • Working knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and relevant state and federal environmental regulations
  • Survey experience identifying common and special-status species in California
  • Strong technical writing skills for preparing field notes and report contributions
  • Proficiency with GPS units, field data collection tools, and basic GIS applications
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Schedule & Pay

  • Full-time, hourly, non-exempt position
  • $33.00–$42.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
