Core Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor external Cost Consultant's preparation of variations and payments throughout project durations while collaborating with consultants and contract administrators.
  • Act as the engineering consultant to influence a positive commercial outcome on projects.
  • Analyze project correspondence and advise internal team members on commercial related matters to eliminate and mitigate risk.
  • Review payment recommendations and certificates to ensure funds are properly discharged in line with contract provisions.
  • Assess variations submitted by Cost Consultants to verify appropriateness of substantiating documents and correct compensation.
  • Hold regular project cost meetings to establish and review project costs against budgets.
  • Represent the client at project cost meetings to ensure efficient information flow.
  • Review documentation and procedures to ensure latest corporate procedures are adhered to.
  • Manage value of variations and internal approvals to ensure compliance with corporate governance and process.
  • Follow approved processes and continuously look to improve them.
  • Perform duties to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and correct quality.
  • Oversee staff performance management reviews to ensure performance is adequately monitored and rewarded.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and advise team members to influence them to take positive action and accountability for their work.
Operating Environment
  • Office based job; required to work longer hours on computer.
  • Required to travel to project sites for coordination and progress meetings.
Formal Education and Experience
  • University degree or diploma in quantity surveying, engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years' industry relevant experience including 7 years' UAE/GCC experience.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Oracle.
  • Good command of English.
  • Civil engineering and construction management experience.
  • Qualifications as quantity surveyor or architect.
  • Western graduates encouraged.
