Associate Copywriter

The Associate Copywriter is a member of the Creative Team and plays a key role in helping to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all marketing and brand communications. This position is responsible for proofing layouts and printer proofs, executing copy edits across multiple channels, and supporting the development of compelling, on-brand messaging. Working closely with the Senior Copywriter as well as members of the Strategy and Design Teams, the Associate Copywriter contributes to campaign ideation and content development while building a strong understanding of the Massage Envy brand voice, style guidelines, and legal requirements within a franchise environment.

Essential Functions:

• Proofread layouts at various stages of job process for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand standards; check and approve digital printer proofs
• Execute edits to copy documents and upload and maintain versions within project management system at multiple stages of the job process
• Interpret strategic briefs for promotional campaigns and brainstorm with Senior Copywriter to produce original concept copy
• Support Senior Copywriter as needed in producing original content that adheres to the company’s style guidelines for a range of corporate marketing materials (including but not limited to print, web, mobile, video and social media)
• Develop an understanding of the different language styles and strategies that appeal to the brand’s various target markets
• Develop an understanding of the legal guidelines involved with a franchise business to minimize revisions and help to ensure compliant messaging
• Maintain a clear and consistent brand voice
• Serve as occasional backup for Traffic Manager to help maintain workflow and project deadlines

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or related discipline
• Minimum 1-3 years professional copywriting experience with samples of work
• Exceptional proofreading and editing skills (proofreading assessment required)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work within and consistently meet deadlines
• Demonstrates openness to feedback and the ability to incorporate direction effectively into work output
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
• Mac experience is strongly preferred, with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, as well as project management programs (e.g., Wrike or similar platforms).
