DESCRIPTION

We are currently looking for an Associate Counsel to join the Legal and Compliance team at Circle Medical Technologies. As we continue to grow, we are constantly searching for exceptional talent to join our team. This position is remote in the U.S. in certain designated states.

The Associate Counsel will provide strategic and day-to-day legal support across corporate, regulatory, and operational matters, with a strong focus on healthcare and telemedicine compliance and commercial agreements. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to mitigate risk, support growth initiatives, and ensure adherence to applicable laws and industry standards. The ideal candidate is a responsive, reliable legal partner who can balance legal risk with practical, business-oriented solutions.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare regulatory frameworks, including telemedicine laws, prescribing requirements (including controlled substances and DEA compliance), scope of practice restrictions, fraud and abuse laws (Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute), and corporate practice of medicine (CPOM)
  • Advise on HIPAA, state privacy laws, and data security requirements, including breach response and incident management, and data use considerations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of corporate and transactional documents, including commercial agreements, vendor contracts, leases, and partnership and affiliation arrangements
  • Advise leadership and business stakeholders on legal and regulatory risks, including assessing, prioritizing, and clearly communicating risk, and developing practical, forward-looking mitigation strategies
  • Advise on employment, HR, and independent contractor matters, including worker classification, multi-state employment considerations, and related compliance risks
  • Advise on and manage legal and regulatory matters related to state licensing and provider credentialing, including multi-state licensure and telemedicine requirements
  • Advise on managed care contracting, billing, and revenue integrity matters, including regulatory compliance and reimbursement requirements
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and business teams to provide legal guidance on new features, workflows, and patient-facing experiences, including privacy, data use, data security, and patient experience considerations
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical, Growth, Payer Relations, and RCM teams on regulatory matters, compliance initiatives, and issue resolution, including healthcare delivery models such as MSO/PC structures and affiliated practice structures
  • Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of scalable compliance programs to support company growth, including policies, procedures, training, monitoring activities, and risk assessment processes
  • Lead or support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, and internal compliance issues
  • Support responses to legal and regulatory requests, including subpoenas and government inquiries
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3 - 6+ years of experience in health care regulatory and transactional matters (candidates with less than three years’ experience may be considered for an assistant counsel position)
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials and relevant experience in healthcare, regulatory, and/or transactional law
  • Active bar membership in good standing
  • Experience in telemedicine preferred but not required


Compensation

We offer compensation that is market-aligned, performance-driven, and designed to maintain internal equity. Pay is reviewed regularly, and growth is supported based on demonstrated impact and increased scope of responsibility, not tenure alone.

U.S. base salary range (varies by location): $150,000 – $200,000. Compensation is adjusted based on location, with higher ranges for high-cost areas such as San Francisco, mid-range for markets like Chicago, and lower ranges for other U.S. locations.

Final offers are tailored to each candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, and location within the applicable regional pay band.
