AutoNation is seeking an Associate DevOps Engineer to join our growing DevOps team. In this hands-on role, you will support the development and maintenance of our software delivery pipelines and assist in maintaining the performance and reliability of our platforms and services.
This is an ideal opportunity for early-career professionals or recent graduates who are passionate about DevOps, cloud computing, and automation. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to modern DevOps practices in a cloud-first, enterprise-scale environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing version control systems and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Support infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Help deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Write and maintain automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Contribute to the setup and maintenance of monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., AppDynamics, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Grafana).
- Participate in troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Engage in team standups, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
- Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and best practices in DevOps and cloud computing.
- Provide support during production deployments and assist in incident response activities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Min of 1 year of experience in DevOps, system administration, or a related IT field (internships or academic projects welcome).
- Experience with version control systems (preferably Git).
- Exposure to CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
- Foundational understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Foundational understanding in virtualization and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or currently pursuing).
Preferred / Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience with monitoring or logging tools (e.g., Grafana, AppDynamics, or ELK Stack).
- Understanding of networking, Linux/Windows system administration, or basic cloud security concepts.
- Certifications or coursework in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
