Compensation range: $85,000–$92,400 per annum

American Progress is seeking an Associate Director of Partnerships to support the Digital Advocacy team’s strategic engagement. This role manages relationships with creators, elected officials, and advocates; identifies opportunities for new partnerships outside of and across the progressive political landscape; leads Rise, the Center for American Progress Action Fund’s partner Slack community; and helps drive digital content performance in order to improve the performance and reach of progressive messaging content online.
The ideal candidate is skilled in relationship-building, digital strategy, and progressive advocacy, with a strong grasp of the online progressive ecosystem across platforms, creators, influencers, and organizations. The ideal candidate also has previous supervisory experience.
Develop and execute strategies to strengthen external partnerships and expand CAP Action’s reach.
Collaborate with internal teams to translate policy into digital campaigns and optimize content distribution.
Manage communications and engagement within the partner Slack community Rise.
Identify and cultivate new partners, including progressive and nonpolitical voices, with measurable goals.
Lead assigned strategic partnership projects and serve as primary contact for key political partners.
Plan and execute partner events, briefings, and trainings.
Stay current on digital trends and apply best practices to improve partner content performance.
Represent CAP and CAP Action at external events.
Maintain direct lines of communication and reporting across American Progress, including with the Communications department at the direction of their supervisor.
Manage up to two staff members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
5 to 7 years of experience in political advocacy, digital media, community organizing, or social media.
Strong relationships with digital and communications operatives throughout the progressive movement.
Deep understanding of progressive values, policy, and media dynamics.
Proven ability to build relationships with a wide range of partners—from elected officials and strategists to nonpolitical and unaligned communities.
Detail oriented and able to juggle multiple projects for different stakeholders, often in rapid-response or high-pressure situations.
Excellent communicator with internal teams and external partners.
Thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments; proactive and adaptable.
Creative, innovative, and eager to learn new skills.
Commitment to the values and ideals advanced by American Progress.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
