The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director - Project Management for the Power Lifeline Sector. The Associate Director will be responsible for a portion of the Power Lifeline Sector (LLS) project management department and its associated P&L. This includes department strategic direction, delivery, profitability, and performance for portfolio, program, and project management within the Power LLS. Additionally, this role may include management responsibility for high visibility and complex projects critical to meeting strategic company goals. This role will ensure organizational alignment and clarity and successfully support and execute the department and LLS’s short and long-term strategies, business plans, and strategic objectives.


What You’ll Do

Team Building & People Development

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture that supports retention, connectivity, and engagement
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff through training, career development discussions, succession planning, and growth opportunities
  • Lead regular team and 1:1 meetings, quarterly reviews, and performance evaluations, including merit, bonus, and promotion decisions
  • Support workforce planning by evaluating capacity and skillsets, promoting cross-team collaboration, and aligning resources with business needs
  • Partner with HR in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding to support company-wide growth

Department Performance

  • Lead and supervise all aspects of project execution by directing the project management teams accountable for project specific scopes, stakeholder management, schedules, budgets, and quality across large portfolios of work
  • Monitor and approve team budgets, including revenue, profitability, and indirect expenses (training, recognition, events, etc.)
  • Provide direction and supervision to ensure alignment with individual, team, and organizational performance goals and financial metrics
  • Champion the use of Ulteig project management tools, standards, and industry best practices
  • Promote continuous improvement by sharing and implementing lessons learned across teams
  • Ensure compliance with Ulteig’s governance policies and procedures

Business Development & Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with other Power LLS Associate Directors, Power LLS Leadership, Enterprise Operational Services (EOS), and Shared Services to ensure that strategies and actions align across the enterprise
  • Partner with the sales team to drive revenue growth, manage profitability, and expand services with current and prospective clients
  • Support proposal efforts on contracts, work orders, MSAs, and NDAs in coordination with the Proposal Development Team and technical staff
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Drive digital transformation by promoting innovative tools, data-driven insights, and technology adoption to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams on strategic company and department initiatives

Project Execution and Operations

  • Manage our largest and most complex, multi-disciplinary projects from initiation through close-out including engineering, field services, procurement, and construction management scopes for the Power Lifeline Sector
  • Coordinate matrixed execution teams to ensure resources are focused on the right activity at the right time to meet project schedules
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and problem-solving sessions, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards, contract requirements, and client expectations
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, including risk management and mitigation strategies
  • Apply strong contract strategy knowledge to align prime and client agreements for successful project delivery
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations to support project scope, schedule, and budget objectives

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of project management experience, with significant background in engineering projects, power industry experience required, and EPC experience preferred
  • Technical engineering knowledge, with the ability to understand and coordinate solutions for complex challenges required
  • PE, PMP, CCM or equivalent certification preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams responsible for delivering program and project management, field services, engineering, operations, and procurement scopes
  • Analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative attitude
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Planview Adaptive Work, Microsoft Dynamics), with advanced understanding and experience of scheduling and cost planning
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $155,500 - $210,300
  • Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
