TPMG is seeking an Associate Editor to work with the experienced staff of the #1 content provider in the North American rail industry, with such leading products as Progressive Railroading, RailPrime and RailTrends®.
The ideal candidate is a multifaceted communicator — a journalist who is an eager-to-learn, self-starter/team player that can prioritize tasks and can collaborate with other editors and departments. Interest in and/or passion for the transportation industry (freight and passenger) a plus.
This candidate will have a degree in journalism or a related field. Knowledge of AP style is required. SEO experience, multimedia, and content management system proficiency a plus.

Responsibilities:
- Help write and edit our daily eNewsletter.
- Report and write articles, and help develop audio and video content, for our premium digital subscription offering.
- Contribute articles to and help proofread the print magazine.
- Help manage and contribute content on our social media channels, and work with our E-Media team to evaluate and develop use cases for AI.
- Assist with moderating panels and introducing speakers at virtual events, and work with our Education and Events team to develop and deliver world-class paid-attendee virtual and in-person events. Some domestic travel likely.
- Support and/or manage various special sections that appear periodically in print or digital formats, some of which have advertorial elements to them.
Necessary Skills and Experience:
- A good reporter/writer with strong news judgment, and solid editing and proofreading skills. Attention to detail (and AP Style) is a must.
- Ensure content is optimized with appropriate headlines, SEO, links, etc.
- Multitasking is a must. The ability to work on (and prioritize) multiple projects with varying but constant deadlines is essential.
- New content generation: Brainstorm ideas ranging from stories to information delivery formats to new revenue streams.
- Team play required. The ability to work well with editorial staff as well as collaborate with other departments (marketing, design) is essential.
- Communication, in general: It’s crucial. We’re looking for a good listener who isn’t afraid to ask questions — whether it’s during the reporting/writing process or in staff/interdepartmental meetings.
