You’ll wear many hats—drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on compliance in highly regulated industries, supporting securities filings, and helping shape policies that keep our company strong and innovative. This position may be performed remotely or based at Centrus Energy’s Oak Ridge, Tennessee location , depending on the candidate’s preference and business needs.


What You Will Do:

Provide legal advice and support across Centrus on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. Draft and negotiate contracts (federal, commercial, domestic, and international), guide compliance with sanctions, export controls, and anti-bribery laws, and advise on corporate structuring and governance. Support securities law filings, financial agreements, and other obligations of a public company. Partner with business leaders to balance legal risk with strategic goals, manage outside counsel, and help the company anticipate and navigate complex legal challenges in the nuclear and clean energy industries.

We’d Love to Hear From People With:

  • A J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school, admitted and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a practicing lawyer, including advising on federal government and commercial contracts (knowledge of FAR, DFARS, DEAR required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of an organization.
  • Flexibility to learn and advise on a wide range of legal issues (securities, nuclear regulatory, international trade, labor/employment, IP, etc.).

A Successful Candidate Brings:

  • Prior experience managing legal affairs for a business unit, division, or company.
  • Securities law expertise (10-K/10-Q reporting, proxy statements, insider trading, governance, Regulation FD).
  • Experience with ESG reporting, project finance, or transactional due diligence.
  • Background in government (NRC, SEC, DOE) or top-tier law firm practice.
  • Confidence to work independently in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.


Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $200,000-$220,000. This position is Bonus eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test and vetting to ensure Centrus Energy can meet the requirements of 10 CFR Parts 810 and 1017 to grant access to export-controlled information and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information, respectively. Such access is required for the performance of this position.
