Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is seeking an Associate HR Business Partner.

About the Position:

The Associate HR Business Partner provides hands-on and strategic support to the People & Culture team, helping implement people strategies that promote equity, inclusion, and organizational health. In collaboration with the Senior HR Business Partner and broader People & Culture team, the Associate HR Business Partner is a thought partner to employees, contributing to organizational development and culture initiatives that support business results. You will help manage HR operations, including leave administration, supporting the planning and implementation of employee wellness initiatives, and responding to employee inquiries. You will identify opportunities to improve policies, processes, and team effectiveness. In this role, you provide data-driven insights, guidance, and support that ensure fair, consistent, and impactful people practices that advance CPR’s mission.

The new hire is expected to reside in the greater Denver metro area upon starting - this is not a remote position. However, a hybrid schedule is available that requires a minimum of 3 days in the office each week.

About You:

You are a proactive, equity-minded HR professional who balances empathy with accountability to ensure fair, transparent, and consistent people practices. Courageous and emotionally intelligent, you handle difficult conversations, provide constructive feedback, and model inclusive leadership behaviors. You are organized, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities while executing HR strategies, initiatives, and compliance tasks, including leave administration. You communicate clearly, analyze complex situations, and collaborate effectively, taking ownership of projects from start to finish. You thrive in building and improving HR foundations while supporting leaders and staff to grow through shared responsibility and trust.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience with managing employee relations, leave administration, and policy interpretation.
  • Experience supporting employees and leaders on subjects such as people strategy, change management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining HR procedures.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, HR compliance standards, and equitable policy application.
  • Proficient in using HR systems and platforms such as HRIS, performance management tools, and applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft and Google platforms such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to use data to identify trends and drive outcomes.
  • Familiarity with best practices in inclusion, anti-bias, and equitable HR decision-making.
  • Experience supporting HR equity and inclusion initiatives or integrating inclusive practices into people processes is preferred.

Education Equivalency

  • A fully relatable bachelor’s or master’s degree may replace some of the required years of experience needed to qualify for the position, but is not required for the role.

Don't meet every single requirement? Research has shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Colorado Public Radio, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, equitable and authentic workplace. If you're excited about this role, but your past experience doesn't perfectly align with every qualification in the job posting, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles with us.
