Associate I Protein Chemistry

Summary

The Protein Chemistry Associate I will take an active role in material processing, reagent formulation, technical manufacturing, and in-process and/or final quality control of reagents for use as components of in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) products. Specifically, he/she is involved in bioconjugation, protein purification, and analytical characterization of complex bioconjugates as they relate to the development of tissue diagnostic products for cancer and infectious disease. This position requires the person to adhere to all current industry standard regulations.

All duties will be performed under minimal supervision.

• Bioconjugate Production
  • Purify Antibodies utilizing chromatography and filtration processes
  • Manufacture Polymers utilizing chromatography and filtration processes
  • Prepare reagents
• Perform GMP Activities
  • Follow SOP's and other work instructions
  • Perform line clearance and review batch records
  • Order and receive materials for manufacturing events to ensure an uninterrupted supply of existing products
  • Maintain raw material Inventory control
  • Monitor equipment logs as required by the Company Quality System
• Support QC Activities
  • Perform ELISA testing for Protein Chemistry Bioconjugates and In-process Manufactured Polymers
  • Validate raw materials
• Support R&D/Other Departments
  • Aides in providing technical support to R&D, QA, and Manufacturing personnel
  • Assist in reagent preparation and new formulations
• Laboratory Safety and Hygiene
  • Observe and comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Keep personal and shared spaces clean
  • Wash and sanitize all laboratory glassware, plastic ware, and other essential items
• Other
  • Maintain an up-to-date laboratory notebook and other departmental recordkeeping documents
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as needed
• Other duties as assigned by Management.

Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field with one plus (1+) years' experience working in Protein Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or other related fields.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment including protein purification and characterization techniques.
• Familiar with qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques including ELISA, Chromatography, Gel Electrophoresis.
• Basic understanding of GMP procedures and Quality Systems in an FDA regulated environment.
• Comfortable with using computer applications as required to perform job functions.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated good planning and time management skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient in writing and communicating in English.

Compensation Range

• $70,000.00 - 75,000.00 annually

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

• Full-time Onsite Position
• 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. This position may require extended weekday or weekend hours depending on business needs.
