We’re looking for a motivated litigation attorney to handle professional license defense & administrative law cases for our firm. Our next team member will diligently prepare for settlement conferences and be able to articulately defend clients at contested hearings in front of licensing boards as well as state agencies. Some experience is desired, but not required.
Attorneys must possess patience when interacting with clients and must assist clients in preparation for settlement conferences and contested case hearings, as well as any interviews with investigators.
This job will necessitate you being in the courtroom and litigating cases. Which means you need to feel confident and comfortable in this environment. If you like the competitive nature of trial work, then you will have plenty of opportunities.

Compensation:
$70,000 - $90,000 yearly plus discretionary quarterly bonus
Responsibilities:-
Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice
- Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficiently
- Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiations
- Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients
- Research issues related to clients’ cases

Attend hearings in front of various licensing entities, including the Office of Administrative Hearings, state agencies, and professional licensing boards

Attend settlement conferences with various licensing entities, including the Office of Administrative Hearings, state agencies, and professional licensing boards

Attend meetings with the Board and Agency investigators

Draft and file legal documents (pleadings, motions, etc.)

Come up with legal theories for clients’ cases and execute plans for hearings and settlement conferences

Qualifications:-
Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Successful completion of the bar exam
- Solid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys
- Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
- J.D. degree and an active law license in North Carolina are required

History of being deadline-driven and extremely organized

Courtroom experience is preferred, but not required

Experience in professional licensing/administrative law matters is preferred but not required

Proficient in basic computer software and can quickly learn to use new programs

Self-starter able to work independently and adhere to the firm’s policy and procedure manual

Experience with cloud-based technology, specifically Google Drive & law firm management software, to name a few, is required

Ability to work as a member of a team is necessary

The use of a calendar and a task management system is required

The ability to use meeting software, like ‘Zoom’, ‘Google Meet’, and ‘Microsoft Teams’, is required

Must have a valid driver's license

There will be some work in Superior Court via appeals of agency/board decisions and other professional license-related matters
