Associate Managing Editor

Seeking a detail-oriented, strategic, and charismatic editor who excels in creative writing and brand management and wants to leave their mark on the professional beauty industry by taking ownership of a B2B media brand.

Allured Business Media and Skin, Inc. is looking for an Associate Managing Editor to take the lead on a business-to-business beauty industry media brand comprising both a print and digital magazine, website, daily newsletters and multimedia offerings (videos, podcasts, webinars, etc.). This role also requires managing brand presence on social media platforms and attending both live and virtual events nationally and potentially internationally.

This is a hybrid position: 3 days in office and 2 days working remotely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role’s core responsibilities will include editing, writing, curating, as well as some writing and multimedia content creation for social and web.

The associate managing editor works closely with the content director, their business development partner and supporting departments; authors; industry suppliers and service providers; and the brand’s audience to:

• Proactively define and maintain the continuity of the brand’s voice to the industry across all channels.
• Create engaging, insightful, and perspective-defining content that aligns with core audience and supplier needs.
• Coordinate cross-functional team collaborations (sales, design, marketing, audience development, etc.)
• Set and track content schedules, including deadlines for original and paid content.
• Manage and organize content around print magazine deadlines.
• Analyze and react strategically to content performance (analytics) through Google Analytics and Social Media reports.
• Identify new market or audience opportunities by connecting and engaging with the audience, current events, culture, and trends.

The daily routine of an associate managing editor could include building their market-knowledge from a range of sources, accompanying their business developer on client meetings, brainstorming and developing brand strategies to continue evolving and refining the brand, curating content and contributors, creating and/or scheduling content and tracking performance across social, web, and newsletters, as well as various team meetings or travel to industry events.

Requirements

• Proficiency in social media content creation. This includes: filming video, navigating brand templates on Canva, and creating engaging captions for LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
• Significant editorial experience: content development and curation, scheduling, editing, writing, etc.
• Very strong interpersonal skills. The ability to manage social instances in person and digital communication with charisma, grace, and personality.
• A very robust social battery.
• Management experience is a plus.
• Strong interest in the beauty industry.
• Experience working in B2B.
• Self-critical, intentional, and selective about what passes through their channels.
• Socially, culturally, and politically conscious enough to elevate original pieces with real-world context.
• Capable of tracking trends and synthesizing key information to guide editorial content and decisions.
• Experience in the beauty industry is a plus.
• Experience with a CMS (content management system) for online/digital content development.
• Adaptable to new technology and programs for workflow and process.
• Experience in client collaboration/business development.
• BS in Journalism, English or a similar field
• Willingness and ability to travel 4-6 times a year.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
