Position Summary
This posting is for two new full-time entry level associate research positions at the OMIC R&D campus in Scappoose, Oregon. Recent college graduates, or those available to start by April 1, 2026 are encouraged to apply.

The Associate Manufacturing Solutions Researcher “Associate MSR” supports applied research under the Director of Research Operations at the OMIC R&D campus in Scappoose, Oregon. The successful candidate works closely with industry members, university staff, faculty and students, and is a self-motivated individual capable of prioritizing work tasks to support the needs of the team.

The Associate MSR utilizes advanced skills in computer-aided manufacturing and machine operation combined with a firm knowledge of research practices, technical presentation, documentation and report writing. The Associate MSR will also deliver basic to advanced knowledge in a training and educational setting as an ambassador for OMIC R&D and manufacturing in general.

The Associate MSR is adaptable to a constantly evolving work environment, works very well with others, and is willing to take measures to learn and expand their working knowledge through both sharing and receiving information in a positive and collaborative setting.

Minimum Requirements

Additional Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Machine and Tool Technology or related field. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • One year or more experience in a research and development setting with exposure to components of testing, analysis and research and a proven ability to operate lab equipment.
  • Experience in design software such as AutoCAD, Mastercam or SolidWorks
  • Lab or shop experience in at least two (2) of the following disciplines: additive manufacturing, machining, metallurgy, inspection, or automation
  • Proven experience in maintaining shop and lab appearance, tools and equipment organization and storage, and overall shop and lab cleanliness and safety.
  • Competency in fundamental material science.
  • Competency in basic blueprint reading.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience supporting research projects in the following disciplines: additive manufacturing, machining, metallurgy, inspection, or automation.
  • Experience in MasterCAM or NX.
  • Testing and Analysis data compilation, data filtering, and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Works well with others in a collaborative setting.
  • Able to self-initiate, take ownership of issues and comfortable with decision-making responsibility.
  • Technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Aptitude for teaching.
