Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Associate Marriage and Family Therapist to join our mental health team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families, supporting their mental health and emotional well-being. The position involves engaging in clinical assessments, treatment planning, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions aligned with best practices and HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Conduct intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, family, and couples therapy utilizing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute mental health crises or trauma.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to enhance client engagement and promote positive behavioral changes.
- Collect and document clinical data accurately in medical records while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, case managers, medical professionals, and educators to coordinate care plans.
- Engage in case management activities to ensure continuity of care and monitor treatment progress.
- Maintain professional development through ongoing training in areas such as treatment for acute level detox and residential treatment for Substance Use Disorders and dual diagnosis.
- Stay current with medical terminology, diagnostic criteria, and documentation standards related to behavioral health.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid licensure or registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist or equivalent credential as required by state regulations.
- Experience with psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, behavioral management, and child & family counseling.
- Demonstrated skills in crisis management, crisis intervention, patient assessment, and case management.
- Familiarity with medical documentation standards such as HIPAA compliance, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding; experience working with medical records preferred.
- Knowledge of working with diverse populations including children with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders; experience with special education is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple clients’ needs efficiently.
- Strong communication skills for engaging clients across age groups and backgrounds while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Prior hospital experience or clinical research background is advantageous but not mandatory.
