Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated skill with CAD design software
- Able to generate 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Capability and desire to develop understanding of plasma / chemical / electrical / material interactions within electromechanical systems.
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering principals.
- Design, assemble, test, troubleshoot, and improve components, subassemblies, and entire system modules for high-tech R&D plasma chemistry equipment
- Work with scientists and process engineers to fabricate hardware solutions to match process needs
- Design parts for maintaining high purity environments, troubleshooting sealing issues
- Communicate effectively with process engineers and scientists to understand process needs in terms such as thermodynamics, mass transfer, and electrical conductivity; and use this knowledge to describe physical functions of your parts and assemblies.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1-3 years of experience in a dedicated Mechanical Engineering Design role as a part of a project team, internship, and/or work experience
- Working knowledge of GD&T and DFM
- Fluency in SolidWorks or another mechanical CAD package
- Knowledge of industrial/vacuum plumbing components such as NPT, push-to-connect, compression, VCR, KF, CF, ISO, Tri-Clamp
- Basic fabrication skills - e.g. bandsaw, drill press, lathe, mill, welding, etc.
- Mechanical assembly skills
Bonus Skills:
- Experience as a member of college engineering competition teams - e.g. FSAE, Combat Robotics, Solar Car Challenge, American Rocketry Challenge, etc.
- Experience with vacuum and/or fluid systems
- Experience with high voltage systems
