JOB PURPOSE

The Associate Media Director is a client-facing role, responsible for developing strategy and overseeing the day-to-day management of media activity for her/his clients—including planning for all channels, and buying/execution for digital, print and out-of-home. The Associate Media Director needs to exhibit a deep knowledge of both the media industry and her/his clients’ businesses, while successfully managing media projects, workflow and support staff. The Associate Media Director to work with Media Directors to ensure profitability and growth across his/her clients.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all media strategy, planning responsibilities for designated assignments, acting as trusted and reliable media resource for colleagues and clients alike
  • Stay in close contact with clients (even when Supervisors or Planners are “point person” on account), to keep a pulse on client satisfaction and needs.
  • Develop and present highly strategic media plans, recommendations, reporting and POVs, delegating to Planners as appropriate and guiding their development—in the crafting of plans and recommendations, as well as the tools and skills necessary to build those deliverables
  • Along with Media Directors, train, manage, supervise and evaluate Assistant Planners, Planners and Senior Planners to guide their growth and contributions.
  • Push staff to be creative, innovative and proactive—go beyond what is asked, provide clients with the unexpected. Motivate the team to ensure we are staying ahead of the curve/industry, and always introducing new ideas to clients.
  • Work with Media Director to ensure financial success of the department/agency by helping to manage efficiency and profitability of assigned accounts, keeping current clients satisfied, broadening scope and fee on those accounts wherever possible, and actively participating to help bring in other new business clients/projects.
  • Ensure Media teams being overseen work collaboratively and effectively with other CP departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years experience working in both full service and media-only agency world
  • Strong working command of digital and traditional channels, and roles within a variety of client business and KPIs
  • Problem solver - able to bridge executional expertise with client leadership, and an understanding of impact of decisions with clients and vendors
  • Deep experience with a variety of media research tools and competitive tracking tools.
  • Should be energetic, and a dynamic speaker
