Job Overview
The Associate Media Manager functions as the technical expert for the department. This position will work with department management to create and support media systems in production and post-production. The Associate Media Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining databases to manage all media. The Associate Media Manager will work with Producers, Associate Producers, Production Coordinators and Editors across various productions to organize and maintain all video assets and equipment. The ideal candidate excels working in a fast-paced environment with rigorous attention to detail and organization.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
30% Media Management & Operations

Handle a full range of support functions with media database systems and software. These functions include but are not limited to ingesting, cataloguing, documentation and archiving.

Responsible for ingesting media from daily productions and sending out dailies when necessary.

Manage retrieval of all finished video assets.

Organize video files for efficient access.

Organize production-related material so they can be easily located and always accounted for.
25% Post-Production Coordination
-
Facilitate communication between core team members on their assigned show/project(s)—particularly the Producer, Associate Producer, Production Coordinator and Editor.

Handle daily media management tasks on their assigned show/project(s) as directed by the Producer, including: logging footage, transcribing, creating graphic files, editing, media organization, media requests, etc.

Assist in communication regarding technical with Co-Production Companies which includes:

Assist Producer, Associate Producer in managing Co-Pro production and post schedules.

Assist Producer and Associate Producer in managing deliverables from Co-Pro.
20% Equipment Management
-
Maintain in-house production equipment
-
Checking equipment in and out to producers and co-production teams.

Managing any equipment maintenance and/or purchases, working with Production Management.
25% General Support

Field production as necessary (includes running audio, assisting camera and/or grip, script supervising, etc.

Researching sourced material (footage, archival photos and video, music, etc.)

Editing
-
Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues to jointly meet company-wide goals.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree; film, television, media or related field preferred.
-
3 years of production experience preferably in DIT work and unscripted productions.

Basic understanding of documentary field production processes

Proficient in Adobe creative suite.

Experience with database implementation

Expertise in Media Asset Management (MAM) software (Sony Ci, Lucidlink, Discover, etc.)

Strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task with accuracy and to meet deadlines.

Excellent writing and editing skills
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Basic knowledge of digital film/video post-production processes:
-
Proficient in editing in at least one NLE software application: either Adobe Premiere or AVID.
-
Experience working in LOG workflows for filming/editing/color correcting.
-
Experience in using digital cinema cameras (eg. Arri Amira and Alexa Mini, RED cameras, Canon C300, and Sony FS7).

Experience in sourcing and securing licensing rights for music, acquired footage, archival photos and videos.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
The working conditions are primarily a general office setting. However, the position may require off-site travel to donors and/or other such locations as necessary.
