Presbyterian Village North is looking for a Full-Time Associate Director Spiritual Life in the Spiritual Life Department.
Hours are full-time. Will normally work a five-day week which will include Sundays (Sat.-Wed. or Sun.-Thurs.).

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to outside elements
WORK PACE: Fast-paced. Able to juggle multiple needs at one time. Able to deal with crisis situations
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
College and seminary graduate and ordained, ecclesiastically endorsed or in the process of ordination by the Christian ministry
Experience in working with senior adults is considered a plus
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), preferred
Able to relate to person in various physical, mental, or emotional conditions
Able to relate to persons of different ethnic/cultures and religious backgrounds
Able to share on-call for emergency situations beyond the normal work hours. Will normally work a five-day week which will include Sundays (Sat.-Wed. or Sun.-Thurs.)
Valid Texas Drivers license
Good driving record
Ability to perform Essential Duties
Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, people with disabilities and hospice patients
Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements
Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and Employee Responsibilities
Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Models a service and solutions-oriented attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients, and co-workers
Ensure resident/patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards
Maintain good attendance record
Worship:
o Will share in preaching and worship leadership for regularly scheduled worship services throughout PVN as directed by the Director of Spiritual Care
o Will share in the oversight and coordination of special worship services throughout the year as directed by the Director of Spiritual Care
o Will help coordinate and lead an annual Service of Remembrance for residents who have died in the last year as directed by the Director of Spiritual Care
o Will help coordinate and lead Celebration of Life Services as needed
o Participation in/attend other faith observances as needed
Pastoral Care:
o Is available to provide spiritual guidance to residents and families
o When appropriate may develop and/or lead programs to support residents and families as coordinated by the Director of Spiritual Care
o Will share in making regular visits to residents throughout PVN as directed by the Director of Spiritual Care
o Will share in advocating for and maintaining contact with residents when they are hospitalized as well as following up on hospital stays
o Is available to provide pastoral care for teammates as needed or requested
o Make regular pastoral care visit, as directed
Other activities
o Lead and/or develop Bible studies and discussion groups which center on faith issues or other topics of interest. Activities will take into account the diversity of religious backgrounds represented among the residents
o Serve as backup support to Director of Spiritual Care for team leadership responsibilities
Church and Community involvement:
o Will develop relationships with local clergy as well as maintaining communication with churches about the pastoral needs of their members
o When invited by local pastor, the associate pastor may participate in funeral services for residents
o Will seek to be an effective spokesperson for Presbyterian Village North in his/her contacts with community churches and clergy
o Will maintain active ministerial status in his/her denomination and serve as a spokesperson for Presbyterian Village North in the broader church when appropriate
o Will help to initiate relationships in the community across generations, denominations, and cultures
Continuing Education:
o Will be expected to grow in his/her understanding of issues surrounding the spiritual development and care of senior adults by attending seminars and classes when offered
o Will be supported in pursuit of additional areas of growth in ministry
Accepts other duties as assigned by the Director of Spiritual Care
