Job Title: Associate Network Engineer

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will assist with network troubleshooting, support requests, documentation, and performance monitoring to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the configuration, deployment, and support of routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Respond and work with field technicians for various projects including walkthroughs, installs, and general troubleshooting.
- Monitor, investigate and resolve network performance and security logs using tools like Wireshark, Zabbix, or other monitoring platforms.
- Respond to help desk tickets and escalate more complex issues to senior engineers.
- Support the troubleshooting and resolution of LAN/WAN issues
- Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, configurations, and changes.
- Participate in network upgrade projects and new infrastructure rollouts.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as firmware updates and patching.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field would be preferred, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- 1–3 years of professional experience in networking or IT support roles.
- Hands-on experience with basic networking concepts and devices.
Required Skills
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs.
- Basic knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, ethernet, wireless.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with CLI commands on network devices.
- Experience with scripting (bash, python)
- Experience with Linux and open-source technologies.
- Exposure to cloud networking (Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Understanding of wireless network design and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with HP-Aruba, Ubiquiti, or SD-WAN (velo) equipment
Non-Technical Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to travel between offices or sites, as required.
Working Conditions
- Some after-hours work is required for maintenance and installation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for hardware installations, which is rare.
- 24-7 availability is required. This role requires that you have your phone on you, that it is turned on and charged, and that you answer for emergencies which could include, but not limited to, outages and installations, at all times (other than when on pre-approved PTO)
