The role
The Recount is seeking an enthusiastic and industrious associate social media producer to join our team, with a focus on daily social content production. If you’re motivated, detail-oriented, and as comfortable in Canva as you are in Premiere, this might be the job for you.
The role is best suited to someone with strong social media production and writing skills. A native understanding of platform-specific packaging, presentation, and execution is a must. The ideal candidate is deadline-driven and has strong communication skills. They work efficiently and know how to receive and incorporate feedback. Interest and familiarity with the subject matter — specifically public health and politics — is a huge plus.
The associate producer will be expected to take daily assignments from editors, with a focus on the production of static social assets as well as editing vertical video.
You, our ideal candidate, thrive in fast-paced environments. You won’t be reporting stories, but you’ll nonetheless work at the pace of the news cycle. Self-starters with solid time management skills will thrive. Assignments may range from adapting newsletters into engaging social content to building Instagram carousels to editing vertical videos. Every day might be a little different, and you’re cool with that.
This role reports to the Recount’s Deputy Editor and requires being in our Manhattan office 4 days a week.
