Job Description

The department of Media and Creative Industries at UAEU is seeking to make appointment for a full-time faculty at the Associate Professor level. We seek a candidate with professional experience in broadcast production including reporting and presentation, and with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. The department offers a BA major in Mass Communication with concentration in Television and Radio. Range of courses taught in the concentration include media production and presentation as well as digital story-telling, preparing students for careers across the media industries. The successful candidate will contribute to an evolving media curriculum and take active part in preparing students for careers in a changing and converging media landscape.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate courses is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualification

In additions to demonstrated professional experience in television and radio broadcasting, we will require evidence of effective teaching or potential for excellence at the undergraduate level. We will also require evidence of strong technical proficiency with industry-standard production tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Avid, Pro Tools, broadcast audio/video equipment, studio and field production gear). • Experience in areas such as podcasting, multimedia journalism, digital video production, scriptwriting, or media management. • A record of creative or scholarly activity. • Ability to teach in a secondary area such as digital media, film production, sports broadcasting, live event production, or media criticism.

Expected Skills

Associate Professor Responsibilities associated with the position are as follows: • Teach undergraduate courses in television and radio production, broadcast journalism, audio production, studio operations, on-air performance and media writing. • Develop new courses that respond to trends in the broadcasting industry, such as digital streaming, podcasting, multimedia storytelling, and emerging production technologies. • Advise and mentor students, including supervision of student media projects and activities (e.g., campus TV station, radio station, podcasts). • Maintain an active agenda of professional creative work and/or scholarly research. • Participate in department, college, and university service, including committee work and curriculum development. • Contribute to building partnerships with industry professionals and organizations in the UAE and beyond. • Deliver lectures and seminars at graduate level
