Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products: Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in industrial or manufacturing technology engineering fields.
- PERFORM PRIMARY DUTIES OF A QUALITY ENGINEER - Apply and analyze testing and inspection procedures
- PERFORM ADDITIONAL DUTIES OF A QUALITY AUDITOR - Judge the degree of adherence to the criteria for chosen requirements
- PERFORM ADDITIONAL DUTIES OF A QUALITY INSPECTOR - Evaluate hardware AND documentation; Perform test procedures; Inspect products; Measure process performance; Record data and prepare formal reports
- PERFORM ADDITIONAL DUTIES OF A QUALITY TECHNICIAN/IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATE - Prepare inspection plans and instructions; Selects sampling plan applications; Analyze and solve problems, prepare procedures, trains inspector and performs surveillance
- Participate in design reviews of new and modified products and advise Engineering on quality assurance requirements; review new and revised engineering drawings and specifications and ensure inspect-ability and incorporation of quality requirements
- When parts/assemblies are to be purchased, assign quality assurance codes to parts for use on TCOM’s purchase order
- When parts/assemblies are to be manufactured, assign quality assurance routings to parts for use on TCOM’s manufacturing order
- Read, understand and use existing or create, modify and establish new quality procedures and work instructions for inspection/test
- Evaluate capability/suitability and recommend approval of new TCOM suppliers; periodically review supplier performance and discipline/suspend/disapprove/reapprove suppliers
- Specify, select and employ suitable inspection, measuring and test equipment for use by quality assurance; manage calibration
- Conduct quality planning including creation of electronic and paper records necessary for quality assurance objective evidence
- Schedule, plan and conduct source inspections of incoming assemblies at supplier’s plants
- Interview, recommend selection and indoctrinate new TCOM inspectors; train, re-train, supervise and lead TCOM inspectors
- Supervise incoming, in-process and final inspections and tests conducted by TCOM inspectors and provide support
- Disposition non-conformances for quality assurance; act as quality for Material Review Board (MRB); manage product escapes
- Control quality aspects of qualification, manufacturability, unit, factory acceptance, system acceptance and operational testing
- Liaison with, escort, support, negotiate with and perform necessary quality functions with customers and regulatory body members
- Create or supervise creation of First Article Inspection templates; approve or reject supplier First Article Inspections
- Apply quality tools and techniques to process improvement and quality improvement; be on or support cross-functional teams
- Use analysis techniques and psychological/human factors to determine Root Cause of quality problems and develop Corrective and Preventive Actions
- Audit quality systems (TCOM and supply chain) and related processes/procedures; prosecute corrective and preventive actions
- Develop environmental control methods and conduct surveillance to enforce adopted temperature/humidity/cleanliness standards, electrostatic discharge prevention, foreign object damage prevention, hazardous material control, safety and ITAR/IP protection
- Perform other job duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
Experience Requirement: One year experience in a manufacturing or technology job in a related industry, or equivalent.
