Associate - Risk Advisory

Job Summary:

The Associate in the Risk Advisory department is responsible for providing risk advisory services to clients in the areas of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, internal audit, enterprise risk management, process improvement, and information technology assessments. The Associate in Risk Advisory will be a critical team member on engagements and perform planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases, as directed by Senior Risk Advisory team members.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Acts as a primary contact for all clients regarding basic questions, information, and workpapers.
  • Conduct interviews and facilitates meetings between management and other stakeholders throughout the engagement process.
  • Obtains information from clients, to support the completion of analysis and research of client issues.
  • Document and analyzes the client’s processes, risk, and controls with guidance and direction from senior Risk Advisory team members.
  • Prepares testing workpapers and initial client deliverables for review by senior team members.
  • Effectively communicates project status, control gaps, and recommendations to team members and client management, as appropriate.
  • Analyzes the client’s processes, risks, and controls.
  • Support senior Risk Advisory team members in the management of the engagement to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and within expected quality.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business, or other related field.

Preferred:

  • 1-2 years of experience within a public accounting firm or Fortune 1000 company performing internal audits, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, operational audits, compliance, enterprise risk management (including risk assessments), or management consulting, preferred.
  • Eligibility for related professional certification preferred (e.g. CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, CFE).
  • Prior audit or accounting work experience (Audit, Tax, and Bookkeeping)
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong professional service ethic, client focused, and results driven.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Travel (up to 30%) to client site as needed.
