Job Title: Associate Scientist – Product Formulation
Location:   Trumbull, CT (100% Onsite)
Hours/Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm 
Type: Contract

Overview

The Associate Scientist will support product formulation development through hands-on laboratory experimentation, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role involves creating and evaluating prototype products, conducting performance and stability testing, and contributing to the commercialization of new consumer product innovations.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and perform laboratory experiments related to product formulation, validation, and performance testing

  • Develop experimental designs and work plans to create prototype products that meet performance requirements

  • Analyze experimental data, draw conclusions, and propose next steps in development plans

  • Collaborate with packaging, process development, and manufacturing teams during development and commercialization phases

  • Record and maintain detailed, accurate laboratory notes and experimental documentation

  • Plan and schedule project tasks, including laboratory testing, third-party evaluations, and consumer trials

  • Present data, progress, and results to project teams and management

  • Develop or modify test methods to solve technical problems and evaluate competitive products

  • Support lab demonstrations, training activities, and customer visits as needed

  • Maintain laboratory supplies, raw material inventories, and clean, safe work environments

  • Follow all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards and policies

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry required, or Associate’s degree with relevant industrial experience

  • Relevant formulation experience in consumer packaged goods considered a strong advantage

  • Advanced understanding of detergent chemistry and related testing methods preferred

  • Experience performing a variety of research experiments and operating laboratory equipment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database applications

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams

  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations
