The Associate SEO Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution of effective SEO strategies across the agency’s client portfolio. This role assists with keyword research, SEO copywriting, and understanding how search engines operate—including the key factors that influence search rankings.

Ideal candidates will have foundational knowledge of content strategy, listings management, technical SEO, website user experience (UX), and keyword optimization to help improve visibility across major search engines. This individual brings entry-level experience in SEO—preferably within an agency setting—and thrives in a continuous learning environment, recognizing that SEO is ever-evolving.

KEY OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Outcome: Ensure high-quality execution of SEO campaigns that contribute to measurable client success and performance growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day management of complex SEO campaigns, including keyword research, competitive analysis, on-page optimization, and technical SEO troubleshooting.
  • Assist with comprehensive site audits and evaluate client analytics to generate performance insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Support QA efforts for SEO campaigns and reporting deliverables.
  • Contribute to client-facing materials and occasionally present best practices in client meetings.
  • Continuously build knowledge in SEO best practices, keyword strategy, off-page tactics, and tools.
  • Learn to measure, analyze, and report on SEO campaign effectiveness to optimize results.
  • Stay up to date on search algorithm changes, industry trends, and evolving tool capabilities

Key Outcome: Contribute to the development of forward-thinking SEO strategies that align with client goals and uncover new opportunities for optimization and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze websites for opportunities to improve architecture, navigation, and visibility for targeted keywords.
  • Research and present ideas to improve SEO strategy and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (SEO, Analytics, Account Services, Planning) to surface new SEO opportunities aligned with client goals.
  • Assist in evaluating SEO platforms, partners, and tools to enhance capabilities.
  • Support link-building strategy development and implementation.
  • Learn and assist with keyword analysis and writing SEO-optimized copy that is both compelling and relevant.

Key Outcome: Promote consistent, cross-functional alignment on SEO best practices and support collaboration across teams to drive cohesive digital strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help document and refine agency-wide SEO standards, practices, and playbooks with senior team members.
  • Partner with developers to ensure proper implementation of SEO recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Content Team to optimize new and existing content for search performance and user engagement.
  • Maintain up-to-date client and process documentation.
  • Seek opportunities to contribute to SEO thought leadership, such as blog posts, case studies, or internal knowledge sharing.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED –

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience with paid and organic search ecosystem
  • Working knowledge of search engine optimization practices
  • Proven track record in operating with a high-level of integrity, commitment, and enthusiasm to take on a challenging role with cross-functional commitments
  • Google Analytics certification

PREFERRED –

  • Experience bringing strategic plans to execution
  • Google Adwords certification
  • Agency experience

COMPENSATION

Butler/Till is committed to providing pay transparency of our compensation philosophy and ensuring equitable pay practices for our employee owners. The compensation range for this position is $36,000- $51,000 and represents the annual salary range in Rochester, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.

This is just one component of Butler/Till’s total compensation package for employee owners. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including ESOP (employee stock ownership plan), an annual bonus, in addition to a full benefits package, and paid time off benefits, including 100% paid parental leave. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
