THE ROLE

PURPOSE & SCOPE
The Associate Technical Designer will be involved in all aspects and stages of tech design and perform intermediate tech design related tasks with a special focus on spec’ing and garment evaluation for woven categories, shirts, trousers, and denim.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Responsible for making all fit preparations including measuring and reviewing garments against comments and specs sent
Assist and support tech design team with all technical and construction issues, questions and concerns
Prepare samples for fittings from proto samples to production samples
Work closely with tech design team to record sample status during all stages of development and approval processes
Assist with managing and maintaining samples and sample closets
Responsible for maintaining and updating tech pack files (style development files, etc.)
Take detailed notes during fittings, and execute all updates and changes with both written and photo corrections using expert recommendations for fit and construction improvements
Create, maintain, and update detailed technical packages (Tech Packs), including garment measurements, construction details. Ensure all specifications are clear and accurate for both domestic and international factories
Serve as a key point of contact for our overseas partners and vendors. Communicate all technical changes and fit comments clearly and in a timely manner to keep the production process on schedule per the pre-established critical path (CP)
Proactively identify and resolve potential issues related to garment fit, construction, and quality during all stages of the product lifecycle
Review and approve size grading to ensure a consistent fit across our entire size range

WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED?
Must have strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive (RLM a plus but not required)
Must have strong technical sketching ability and a thorough understanding of fit
Must have strong measuring ability and a solid understanding of woven garment construction
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Knowledge of Adobe Program a plus
Strong work ethics, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills
Resourceful, hands-on, and able to sense urgency
Ability to be flexible and adaptable within a fast-paced environment and be able to meet deadlines

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
3 years of related work experience and/or internships preferred, specific to technical design
Menswear experience a plus

The hourly rate for the position, based in NYC, NY: $36.00 - $38.00 USD/Hour
