Job Overview
The two-year intensive associateship training program at Alchemy provides pre-licensed therapists with an opportunity to receive training in a small cohort environment while supporting Alchemy’s mission of equitable psychedelic therapy. Alchemy’s training highlights the following approaches: psychedelic assisted therapy, depth psychotherapy, harm reduction, social justice, trauma-informed care. Please visit AlchemyTherapy.org/2year to read more about our training model.

All associates will be required to work 12 clinical hours on average a week for 2 years. Associates will be paid $18/hr for every hour they work in the first year (including supervision, training, documentation, etc). In addition, any clinical hours that go over 24 hours in a 2-week pay period are paid out at $50/hr. Alchemy aims to increase pay as our financial resources allow.

Application review will begin December 15th, with interviews scheduled on a rolling basis until spots are filled.

The 2026 cohort will begin onboarding in early February, with didactics starting on February 13th.

We'll be meeting Fridays from 9:45am-1pm as a cohort, and everyone will be assigned to a group supervision (Tuesdays from 10am-noon or 3-5pm) as well as weekly individual supervision.

Associateship applicants should keep in mind that it takes on average a year to be trained in Alchemy's model to be approved to begin offering ketamine assisted therapy, though the timeline is dependent on skill development and assessment and may take longer. We prioritize offering training in relational and trauma-informed therapy as the foundation of our model to make sure therapists feel confident in their ability to support our diverse client population before adding on the more advanced intervention of KAT.

While we typically have a relatively steady flow of intakes, therapists will also be expected to take some initiative with marketing to build up to a full caseload. Applicants must have a registered associate therapist number in California by the time the job starts, or must be within the 90 day window post-graduation awaiting their registration number.

Application

Please submit a resume, contact information for 2 references, and answers to the following questions to jobs@alchemytherapy.org. Each question can generally be answered with no more than a paragraph.

1. Why do you want to work at Alchemy?

2. Please describe your interest/experience with psychedelic therapy and/or supporting people in altered states, including psychosis/spiritual emergency. We encourage you to use your own discretion with what you feel comfortable sharing in your application response. You can always expand upon your answer in future conversations.

3. This role requires very thorough documentation practices (baseline assessments, clinical assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, diagnosing). What has your training and experience in clinical documentation and diagnosing been?

4. This role also requires the ability to self-start, proactively ask questions, and reach out virtually to ensure you have adequate support. We’re a small team mostly working part-time, so it’s crucial to have clinicians on board who can follow protocols while asking for support as needed.

  • Have you had experience working in a capacity similar to this?
  • How do you imagine yourself working on a team where you need to independently hold yourself accountable while offering a high level of communication?

5. How many client hours per week would you imagine wanting to work, keeping in mind the minimum would be 12 clinical hours per week on average?

6. How do your social privileges serve you in this work? How have you utilized these (or do you plan to utilize these) to create more equity for your clients?

7. How many hours have you accrued toward licensure, and when are you aiming to be licensed by?

8. Anything else you would like us to know about you and/or your clinical experience?
