Job Overview

A law firm seeks an admitted Associate USCIS Immigration Attorney in San Juan, PR. This role offers a significant opportunity for professional growth and development within a dynamic legal environment. The successful candidate will manage their caseload, engage with clients, and collaborate with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties

  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of cases.
  • Conduct intake with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
