Association Management Senior Accountant

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer the Association Management Senior Accountant (“Senior Accountant”) is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations, and supporting strategic financial planning for multiple association clients. The Senior Accountant will serve as a trusted advisor to association executive directors, association boards, and executive leadership, providing financial insights and recommendations to promote sound fiscal management.

  • Manage full-cycle accounting to include financial reporting, tax compliance, regulatory requirements, assigned association clients, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries for multiple associations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements and support schedules for multiple associations.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness and compliance.
  • Monitor budgets in collaboration with client leadership and internal management team.
  • Collaborate closely with association Executive Directors to provide financial information and operational support.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS, and state financial regulations.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide interpretive insights to internal management teams, boards, and committees.
  • Maintain accounting systems and ensure financial data integrity across multiple entities.
  • Utilize expertise to manage system updates, reporting accuracy, developing financial policies, internal controls, and process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain and enhance accounting procedures and reporting processes.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff or client personnel as needed.
  • Attend board or finance committee meetings to present financial results when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting, finance, business, or relevant field of study preferred. At least two (2) to (5) years' progressive professional experience in Finance, Accounting, Association Management, and/or a combination of education and experience preferred.

Other Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with associations, association management companies (AMCs) or multi-entity accounting environments is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong experience in financial reporting and accounting operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively with teams.
  • Proven ability to stay highly organized and efficiently manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously. Show flexibility to address last minute requests.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional organization while under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—capable of translating financial data for non-financial audiences.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to read and understand technical forms and financial reports.
  • Ability to learn internal processes and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent and responsible judgment and handle confidential and sensitive information.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
