An Assistant Zonal Manager - Raw Material in Orrisa , particularly within the prominent local steel or manufacturing industry, focuses heavily on procurement, inventory management, vendor negotiation, and team supervision within a specified region. The role is a key support position to the Zonal or General Manager, ensuring smooth supply chain operations and cost efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities :-

  • Procurement & Sourcing: Identifying, evaluating, and selecting reliable suppliers for raw materials (e.g., iron ore, coal, ferro alloys, agro waste, etc.) at competitive prices.
  • Negotiation & Contracts: Leading price negotiations, finalizing contracts with vendors, and establishing favorable payment and delivery terms to achieve cost savings.
  • Inventory & Logistics Management: Monitoring and forecasting raw material requirements and inventory levels to prevent stockouts or excess stock. This includes coordinating logistics and material handling within plants and external warehouses.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Coordinating with Quality Control (QC) and production teams to ensure all incoming materials meet the required specifications and quality standards. Ensuring all purchasing activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with existing and potential suppliers and distributors.
  • Team Supervision & Operations: Supervising local teams, managing daily operations within the assigned zone, and addressing any operational challenges effectively to meet production goals.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Preparing purchase plans, generating reports, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and analyzing market trends and costs to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, Commerce (B.Com), or a related field is often required, with an MBA in Supply Chain or Post-Graduation in Material Management being preferred.
  • Experience: Generally requires 2 - 3 years of experience in a raw material purchase, procurement, or supply chain management role, preferably within a relevant industry such as steel, metal, mining, or manufacturing.

Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills are essential. Proficiency in ERP systems (like SAP or Tally), MS Office (especially Excel), and communication skills (English and Hindi) are also typically required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
