Role Summary:

We are seeking an Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will work on a broad range of corporate law matters with a focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. The position entails working closely with business partners to balance legal and business risks and contribute to initiatives that strengthen our policies and processes. The position offers exposure to diverse areas of law including insurance, data privacy, employment, and corporate governance and provides the opportunity to collaborate on strategic projects that drive both compliance and business success.

Responsibilities:

  • Contracts & Policies
    • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including IT, vendor, client, and reinsurance agreements.
    • Review insurance policies and assist with reinsurance contract negotiations.
  • General Corporate
    • Provide legal advice that balances legal risk and business objectives.
    • Conduct legal research and draft clear, well-reasoned memoranda.
    • Prepare board materials and support governance activities.
    • Assist with employment law matters.
    • Contribute to process improvements within the legal department.
  • Regulatory & Compliance
    • Research and interpret regulatory requirements, including those related to privacy, data security, and insurance.
    • Support compliance initiatives such as audits, investigations, and policy development.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctor Degree required
  • 2+ years of experience as a corporate-law attorney required
  • Experience as in-house counsel, counsel in a medium- to large-sized law firm, or in an equivalent legal setting
  • Experience drafting, revising, and negotiating contracts
  • Experience conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda
  • Member of, and in good standing with, the Massachusetts bar (or eligible to register as an in-house attorney with the Massachusetts bar)
  • Experience in insurance, corporate governance, data privacy/security, IT, investment, regulatory, private equity, and employment matters preferred

  • Facility with data to analyze, and provide solutions to mitigate, legal risk through:
    • Proficiency with Excel
    • An understanding of terms related to insurance claims handling, financial concepts, and CRICO’s corporate structure
