Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Attorney to join the team at Raddatz & Associates. The ideal candidate will help advance and protect landlord/client interests through litigation, contract work, compliance, and administrative law. This role will involve managing cases from the very beginning (file reviews, drafting notices/pleadings) through court and administrative hearings, settlements, and post-judgment tasks such as eviction coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct case intake and initial file reviews to determine strategy for landlord‐tenant, contract, or compliance matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, leases, notices (e.g., notices to correct/quit, lease violation / nonpayment), and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in court—including residential/commercial eviction proceedings, possession & rent disputes—and in administrative hearings before agencies/regulatory bodies.
  • Handle landlord‐tenant trials and bench hearings as first or second chair.
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance (e.g. housing codes, lead paint & disclosure rules, licensing, certificate requirements).
  • Negotiate settlements when advantageous while preserving client interests.
  • Maintain regular and clear communication with clients, keeping them apprised of developments, obligations, deadlines.
  • Ensure all case files are managed efficiently with attention to deadlines, procedural requirements, and administrative compliance.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice in District of Columbia.
  • Strong litigation experience, including trials or hearings enough to feel comfortable taking or assisting lead roles.
  • Excellent drafting skills, especially pleadings, contracts, notices.
  • Familiarity with administrative law and experience in regulatory or administrative hearings.
  • Capacity to manage multiple cases simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Commitment to client service, ethics, and professional integrity.

Preferred Skills / Extras

  • Experience with legal research tools.
  • Knowledge of local DC/MD housing codes, landlord‐tenant rules, and compliance requirements.
  • Prior exposure to dispute resolution / mediation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $83,054.00 - $95,510.00 per year
