Job Overview
We are a growing, forward-thinking legal startup seeking an attorney who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. This role is ideal for someone who wants to work closely with founders and business owners, ranging from early-stage startups to established, multi-state, multi-million-dollar companies, and play a meaningful role in shaping their businesses.

This is not a traditional law firm position. Rather than being siloed into narrow, task-based work, you will serve as a strategic legal partner, helping clients think through complex business, legal, and operational challenges. You will be expected to exercise sound judgment, creativity, and intellectual rigor while leveraging modern technology to deliver efficient, high-quality legal solutions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to founders, executives, and business owners across a wide range of industries and growth stages
• Analyze complex legal and business issues and provide practical, solution-oriented guidance
• Draft, review, and revise legal documents with precision, clarity, and attention to detail
• Conduct thorough and efficient legal research to support client strategy and decision-making
• Communicate legal concepts clearly in writing and conversation to non-lawyer clients
• Collaborate internally to develop scalable legal processes and workflows
• Utilize and adapt to modern legal technology and software to improve efficiency, accuracy, and client experience
• Manage multiple matters independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Take ownership of work product and outcomes, demonstrating initiative and accountability
• Contribute ideas and insights to help improve systems, client service, and the overall practice as we grow

Experience

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Michigan or at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing
• Background in corporate, commercial, transactional, regulatory, or general business law strongly preferred
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of business-related agreements
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage matters from issue identification through resolution
• Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with limited structure
• Experience using legal technology, document management systems, research platforms, and collaboration tools; interest in emerging legal technology and AI-driven solutions is a plus
