Business Law Attorney

We are a small, growing Idaho law firm serving entrepreneurs, businesses, and estate planning clients across the state. Our practice emphasizes practical legal solutions, modern software solutions, long-term client relationships, and high-quality work—without big-firm bureaucracy.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Business Law Attorney to support and grow our business practice. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with clients, managing matters independently, and handling a wide range of business legal needs for small and mid-sized companies. We are also open to an attorney practicing a closely related area of law.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on business formation and entity selection (LLCs, corporations, partnerships)
• Draft, review, and negotiate business agreements, including:
• Operating agreements
• Shareholder agreements
• Buy-sell agreements
• Commercial contracts
• Counsel clients on day-to-day business operations and compliance
• Assist with mergers, acquisitions, asset purchases, and business sales
• Handle basic employment and independent contractor matters
• Support general counsel–type needs for small businesses
• Collaborate with firm attorneys on related matters (real estate, estate planning, litigation, etc.)
• Manage matters efficiently with the assistance of experienced support staff
• Maintain strong, responsive client communication

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Active license and good standing with the Idaho State Bar
• 2–7+ years of experience in business or commercial law (experience level flexible)
• Strong drafting and contract negotiation skills
• Ability to manage matters independently while working collaboratively with staff
• Practical, business-minded approach to legal problem-solving
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (but not required)

• Experience working with small businesses or closely held companies
• Familiarity with Idaho business and commercial law
• Experience in real estate, employment law, or transactional work
• Interest in client development (with firm marketing support provided)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $84,405.66 - $301,649.83 per year
