Attorney – Criminal & DUI Defense | Nationally Recognized Trial Team | Civil Litigation & §1983

The Behan Law Group, PLLC, honored with the National College for DUI Defense Stephen Barnard Memorial Trial Advocacy Award, is seeking a motivated and experienced Criminal Defense Attorney with a background in civil litigation to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is confident in the courtroom, skilled in motion practice, and comfortable managing cases from intake through resolution. Civil litigation experience is highly valued.

Civil litigation experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience handling 42 U.S.C. §1983 civil rights matters, including drafting complaints, maintaining litigation deadlines, managing discovery, responding to motions, and handling federal court procedures. This background is highly valued.

This position offers remote work flexibility, however, the attorney must be willing and able to travel to various counties throughout Arizona for court appearances, and hearings. Mileage reimbursement is provided.

Responsibilities:

· Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal matters

· Conduct court appearances, evidentiary hearings, trials, and oral arguments

· Draft and argue motions, including suppression and dismissal motions

· Manage discovery, investigations, and case strategy

· Negotiate with prosecutors to obtain favorable resolutions

· Provide exceptional client communication and guidance

· Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure high-quality representation

Qualifications:

· Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

· Active member in good standing with the Arizona State Bar

· 2+ years of criminal defense or relevant litigation experience preferred

· Civil litigation experience strongly preferred

· Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

· Ability to manage a caseload independently

· Trial experience is a plus

· Willingness to travel throughout Arizona as needed
