Position Details:
The Attorney Development Specialist will provide essential support to the Senior Manager of Attorney Development and the broader People Team on all aspects of attorney professional growth and development. The incumbent will focus on the coordination, administration and execution of professional development strategies, processes and programs.
This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional with excellent organizational and communication skills who can balance administrative responsibilities with opportunities to contribute to program design and improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support attorney onboarding and career growth by administering professional development programs and acting as the initial resource for day-to-day questions attorneys encounter during their time at the firm.
  • Help coordinate the non-partner attorney performance evaluation process, including technical administration of the evaluation process and assisting with the drafting, review, and editing of mid-year and year-end evaluations, as well as upward reviews, and facilitating the collection and delivery of feedback throughout the year.
  • Assist with the year-end compensation and bonus process for the non-partner attorneys.
  • Plan and coordinate attorney professional development events and meetings, such as the monthly attorney meetings, including helping to identify the content for the meetings.
  • Participate in introductory meetings with new attorneys, coordinate follow-up meetings and help implement a more robust integration experience.
  • Administer the firm’s attorney mentoring program, including coordinating pairings, communications and events.
  • Support leave and absence management for attorneys by coordinating communications, ensuring smooth transitions before and after leaves and tracking return-to-work plans in partnership with the People Team.
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Manager of Attorney Development, including budget tracking, meeting coordination and preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Provide administrative support to Women@K&K, Pride@K&K and other diversity groups.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for attorney-related HR inquiries that come into the People inbox, triaging and directing issues to the appropriate People team member.
  • Maintain internal relationships within the firm at all levels, establishing a reputation as a trusted resource for general career advice and program information.
  • Partner with the larger People team on the administration, vetting and implementation of People systems, including Workday.
  • Conduct any requested exit interviews.
  • Coordinate with the People team on administrative aspects of the visa process for non-partner attorneys, as needed.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor practices and best practices in legal talent management including compensation structures, bonuses and workplace policies such as return to office regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of three years of professional development, HR or related experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to present ideas comfortably and effectively.
  • Strong writing, editing, creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational, project coordination and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter with close attention to detail and an ability to understand the importance of detailed work within a larger context.
  • Sound judgment to evaluate issues and recommend solutions consistent with the firm’s standards and policies.
  • Work independently, as well as be a team player in a dynamic environment.
At the time of posting, the salary range for this role is US $85,000 (minimum) – $125,000 (maximum). This range is based on a full-time work schedule. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus. The successful candidate’s actual salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, training, skills and market data.
