Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on permitting, compliance, enforcement actions, and remediation requirements.
- Serve as the primary author of legal memoranda, briefs, motions, discovery materials, contracts, and regulatory agreements.
- Research environmental, land use, and administrative laws at federal, state, and local levels.
- Represent clients in administrative and court proceedings, including drafting motions, handling discovery, preparing records, and conducting depositions.
- Counsel public and private entities on minimizing environmental liability risks tied to transactions, asset transfers, development, siting, operations, and permitting.
- Provide guidance on projects involving industrial and waste facilities, renewable energy developments (wind, solar, storage), and natural gas operations.
- Engage in business development through active relationship-building and client engagement.

- Proven ability to manage and grow client relationships.
Education and Experience
- 4–6+ years of experience in federal and state environmental and land use law.
- Substantial knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA, and Michigan NREPA, with experience in compliance, transactional, or litigation support.
- Prior representation of public and/or private clients in matters involving environmental liability (e.g., cleanup, permitting, insurance, hazardous waste management).
- Admission to the Michigan State Bar (or eligibility by start date).
- Portable book of business preferred.
- Experience with solid and hazardous waste facilities is a plus.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
