Attorney - Litigated Claims Supervisor (Hybrid)

We provide a customized hands-on approach and prioritize reasonable caseloads to ensure claims are handled in a manner that meets the specific needs of our clientele and their respective industry.

Litigated Claims Supervisor

The Litigated Claims Supervisor would be responsible for overseeing the handling and resolution of litigated general liability claims. The role includes directly overseeing a team of approximately 12 adjusters and outside local counsel in 30+ states. The Litigated Claims Supervisor would report directly to upper management. In addition to providing general oversight and training, the Litigated Claims Supervisor would directly administer complex and high-value claims. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation that after an initial training period the selected candidate would be in the office at least two days a week.

Duties would include:

  • Manage litigated claim files and ensure that they are handled in accordance with best practice, internal guidelines and client specifications.
  • Work with local defense counsel and claim staff in developing and communicating litigation strategies that meet client’s objectives. Ensure local defense counsel and claim staff comply with all applicable deadlines.
  • Ensure clients are timely updated on status of litigation, resolution plans including attorney assignments, authority requests, and defense counsel reports.
  • Aggressively identify and pursue viable risk transfer opportunities to mitigate client’s claim exposure. Analyze applicable contract language and its enforceability under applicable state laws.
  • Timely identify and analyze potential insurance coverage issues and elevate when warranted.
  • Oversee, guide, and train adjusters with varying degrees of experience in the handling of litigated claims.
  • Review and approve authority requests, reserves, and payments made by team members, within specified authority level.
  • Directly administer large loss claims and claims involving coverage issues and provide regular and concise updates to upper management, excess insurers, and clients.
  • Directly attend mediations, arbitrations, and trials when justified based on exposure and complexity.
  • Coordinate claim reviews with clients and excess carriers and review adjusters’ written work product to ensure it meets company standards and client expectations.
  • Identify, analyze, and report on global claims trends and provide corresponding recommendations to clients on how to mitigate future risk. Identify claim-specific loss prevention recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

J.D. from an accredited law school with an active bar license in at least one state.

Property and Casualty Adjuster License(s) in all applicable states is preferred. Candidates without active licenses must be willing to obtain them.

Minimum of 5 years of related claims or legal experience.

Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to build high‑performing teams and lead with clarity and accountability.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex legal and coverage issues.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Must be able to learn how to work efficiently in several databases including those of clients.

Must be able to interpret contracts and insurance policies, perform analytical research and investigations, and make sound judgments from data and records collected.

Must have strong analytical and reasoning skills.

Travel Requirements: 5-10%

Must have an acceptable background check without any criminal records.

Must pass drug test.
