Patent Attorney/Patent Agent (Remote) – EE, ME, or Computer Science
Grogan, Tuccillo & Vanderleeden, LLP, a boutique Intellectual Property law firm located in Springfield, Massachusetts with a satellite office in Chicago, Illinois, is seeking a full‑time remote Patent Attorney or Patent Agent with a background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
Summary
Grogan, Tuccillo & Vanderleeden, LLP is looking for a detail‑oriented, highly motivated Patent Attorney or Patent Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate brings 2–5 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a variety of electrical, mechanical, and computer‑related technologies. This fully remote role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, meaningful client interaction, and high‑quality patent work within a supportive, collaborative firm environment.
Candidates must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with significant prosecution experience.
Responsibilities
· Draft high‑quality U.S. and international patent applications across electrical, mechanical, and computer science disciplines.
· Prepare responses to U.S. and foreign Office Actions and manage prosecution strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
· Conduct prior art searches and prepare patentability, infringement, and validity analyses.
· Communicate directly with inventors, in‑house counsel, and foreign associates to gather information and advance prosecution matters.
· Manage an active docket and maintain deadlines for domestic and foreign filings.
· Support patent portfolio development and contribute to IP strategies tailored to client business goals.
· Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional client service.
· Stay current with USPTO rules, procedural updates, and relevant legal developments.
Qualifications
· Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
· 2–5 years of hands‑on experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
· USPTO registration required, with substantial prosecution experience.
· Strong technical writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative remote team.
· High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high‑quality work.
