Job Title: Audience Development Editor
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: CEO/Publisher
Supervisory Responsibility: No
POSITION SUMMARY
The Audience Development Editor will develop and execute strategies and tactics to grow and engage our audience across digital and traditional platforms including our websites, newsletters, social media, email. This role is responsible for expanding the reach of The Lakeville Journal and The Millerton News by analyzing audience behavior, optimizing content distribution, and identifying new opportunities for engagement.
Working closely with the newsroom, business team, and our digital providers, the editor will collaborate on improving existing products and user experiences, and develop new initiatives to drive readership retention and growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure that LJ/MN content is visible on multiple platforms beyond our direct channels, selecting, writing and editing content as appropriate to reach the widest and most relevant audience.
· Collaborate with the newsroom to select and promote stories across digital channels, including web, email, and social, writing as needed for various channels.
· Identify and collaborate on implementing user experience improvements.
· Write promotions, including social media posts for news articles and other content.
· Implement best practices for email acquisition and engagement.
· Analyze key performance metrics to make data-driven recommendations.
· Create and execute engagement initiatives, such as interactive content and surveys.
· Monitor audience trends in our communities and across the industry to identify opportunities for growth.
· Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
· Perform other duties as needed.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
· Experience in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
· Experience with social media platforms and strategy, email marketing and platforms and audience analytics.
· Strong interest in digital media and communication.
· Experience with Content Management Systems.
· Ability to develop and test creative audience engagement tactics
· Ability to work with others within and outside the organization in a professional and team-spirited manner.
· Ability to write and communicate clearly and persuasively.
· Experience managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
● The ability to sit, stand, walk and lift a minimum of eight pounds is required
● May be exposed to chaotic, noisy work environment, particularly at deadline
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
