We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Audio Systems Designer or Acoustical Consultant to provide expert guidance on audio capture and acoustic treatment for our setup. Your insights will help us optimize microphone hardware, placement, and acoustic environment to achieve superior recording quality. The role is project based with a total project hours expected to not exceed 50 hours.

Objectives:

• Offer expert advice on microphone hardware selection, placement, and acoustic treatment strategies.
• Identify quick wins and opportunities to enhance audio capture quality immediately.
• Clarify the value of additional equipment such as mixers, arrays, or shields in improving overall results.

Key Focus Areas:
Microphone Hardware:

• Evaluate if a beamforming microphone array can yield significant improvements over traditional single shotgun microphones.
• Assess the potential benefits of on-site audio mixers or DSP units for noise filtering and stabilizing quality.

Microphone Placement:

• Recommend optimal microphone placement strategies that maximize audio quality while maintaining aesthetics and practicality.

Acoustic Shielding:

• Advise on the effectiveness of isolation shields, barriers, or baffles in improving transcription accuracy and reducing ambient noise.

Qualifications:

• Proven expertise in audio engineering, acoustics, or related field.
• Experience with microphone hardware, array systems, acoustic treatment, and audio processing equipment.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate equipment efficacy and placement strategies.

Job Type: Contract

Base Pay: $90.00 - $120.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
