Audit Executive - Shipping Line

Job Summary

The Audit Executive will be responsible for conducting internal audits related to shipping operations, port activities, freight documentation, financial transactions, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The role ensures operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and adherence to company policies and maritime regulations.

Key Responsibilities1. Operational Audit (Shipping & Logistics)

• Audit shipping documentation including Bill of Lading (B/L), Delivery Orders, Invoices, and Cargo Manifests.
• Verify freight charges, demurrage, detention, and port expenses.
• Review vessel operations, cargo handling procedures, and clearance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with port authority regulations and shipping laws.
• Conduct surprise audits at warehouses, terminals, and operational sites.

2. Financial Audit

• Verify revenue recognition from freight, chartering, and logistics services.
• Audit vendor payments, shipping line settlements, and agent commissions.
• Reconcile shipping invoices with contracts and freight agreements.
• Identify revenue leakages and cost inefficiencies.

3. Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with company SOPs and maritime regulations.
• Review adherence to customs and port authority requirements.
• Identify operational and financial risks in shipping transactions.
• Recommend control improvements and corrective actions.

4. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting findings and recommendations.
• Present audit findings to management.
• Follow up on corrective action implementation.
• Maintain audit working papers and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or relevant field.
• ACCA/CA (Part-qualified) preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in audit, preferably in shipping/logistics industry.
• Knowledge of shipping documentation and port operations.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• Understanding of shipping operations and freight processes.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and MS Excel (advanced level).
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and conduct field audits.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs75,000.00 - Rs90,000.00 per month
