We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Audit Specialist to join our team and support our mission of delivering effective, ethical, and accountable services to the individuals and families we serve.

Position Overview
The Audit Specialist will oversee internal audits related to billing, clinical documentation, and compliance for both ABA and outpatient mental health services. This role ensures that all services meet payer, state, and federal requirements and that internal practices align with the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular internal audits of clinical documentation, billing records, and service delivery across ABA and outpatient programs.
  • Review claims submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with payer guidelines (including Medicaid, private insurance, and managed care organizations).
  • Identify potential risks, discrepancies, or patterns of concern and recommend corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to implement compliance policies and corrective measures.
  • Provide feedback and training to staff to improve documentation practices and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Assist in preparing for external audits and respond to requests from insurance providers, state agencies, and accreditation bodies.
  • Develop and maintain audit tools, tracking systems, and reporting dashboards to monitor compliance and quality assurance.
  • Stay updated on changes in insurance regulations, ABA compliance requirements, and mental health documentation standards.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in healthcare auditing, compliance, or quality assurance, preferably within behavioral health or ABA settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid, private insurance billing, and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with ABA service delivery models and outpatient mental health programs is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems; experience with CentralReach or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
