Authorization Specialist

Overview:

OrthoUnited, Inc. - Spectrum Campus located in North Canton is a large orthopaedic practice, seeking a detail-oriented and organized Authorization Specialist to join our team. As an Authorization Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that medical procedures and services are properly authorized and approved by insurance providers. This position requires knowledge of medical coding and insurance verification. Duties:
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for medical procedures and services such as : DME, Medications, Testing, Injections, Surgical Procedures
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any authorization issues or discrepancies including appealing denials
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure timely and accurate authorization for procedures or services upon request.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, guidelines, and regulations
- Assist patients with questions or concerns regarding their insurance coverage

Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a medical office required, Orthopedic Experience is a plus

-Insurance Verification experience Required

-Availity, Cohere, Evicore, Covermymeds Experience required

-Spine/Pain Management Procedure experience preferred

-Orthopaedic Surgery experience preferred

- Strong understanding of medical coding principles and guidelines
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software applications Medent experience is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
