Job Summary:
The Auto Maintenance Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the vehicle service workshop. This includes managing personnel, ensuring timely and quality service, optimizing workflow, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The Workshop Manager ensures that all maintenance and repair work is performed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Workshop Operations Management:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate daily workshop activities.
- Monitor workflow and allocate jobs to technicians based on skill level and availability.
- Ensure proper documentation and completion of all repair orders and service logs.
- Manage parts ordering, inventory control, and equipment maintenance.
- Team Supervision:
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of technicians, mechanics, and service advisors.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching or disciplinary action as needed.
- Ensure team adheres to safety protocols and workshop policies.
- Customer Service & Communication:
- Communicate with customers regarding service issues, repair estimates, and timelines.
- Handle escalated complaints and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure repairs and maintenance are performed in accordance with manufacturer standards.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work.
- Enforce health and safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.
- Administrative Duties:
- Monitor and control workshop budgets and expenses.
- Prepare reports on workshop performance, productivity, and KPIs.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Parts, Sales, Administration) for smooth operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or diploma in Automotive Technology preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in automotive repair, with at least 8 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostics.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with workshop management software and MS Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
