The Automotive Service Dispatcher plays one of the most critical roles in ensuring efficient, organized, and timely flow of all service work within the dealership. This position is responsible for distributing repair orders to technicians based on skill level, availability, and work load, while supporting a productive and safe shop environment. The Dispatcher helps maintain smooth operations between advisors, technicians, parts, warranty, and management, in alignment with union guidelines and dealership processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign repair orders to technicians in accordance with skill set, efficiency, union guidelines, and current shop workload.
  • Monitor and maximize shop productivity, technician status, and workflow throughout the day to ensure timely completion of all work.
  • Communicate effectively with Service Advisors regarding job status, delays, and any required adjustments.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure timely parts availability and minimize downtime.
  • Review and manage dispatch logs, technician time cards, and workflow reports as required.
  • Ensure warranty, customer-pay, and internal jobs are dispatched appropriately to maximize shop efficiency.
  • Assist the Service Manager with scheduling, capacity planning, and shop organization.
  • Support compliance with safety protocols, union contract rules, and dealership policies.
  • Maintain clean, organized workstation and uphold high standards for professionalism and customer service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Prior experience as a service dispatcher, service advisor, shop foreman, or similar role in an automotive service environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive repair processes, technician skill sets, and dealership operations required.
  • CDJR dealership experience a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems Reynolds, Stellantis systems, XTime, Kenect, etc.) is preferred.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a union shop and follow related policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate the shop environment safely.

Work Environment

  • Unionized service department environment.
  • Fast-paced, customer-focused automotive dealership setting.
  • Regular interaction with technicians, advisors, parts personnel, and management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
