K&E Fire Protection is seeking a full-time AutoCAD Designer (Entry-Level / Junior) to join our growing design team. We are a well-established fire sprinkler engineering firm with over 53 years in business, designing systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects nationwide.

This position is ideal for someone with strong AutoCAD and computer skills, a basic understanding of construction drawings, and an interest in learning a specialized trade. Previous fire sprinkler experience is not required — we will train the right candidate.

Position Overview:

  • Work closely with senior designers and engineers to learn how to design fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local AHJ requirements.
  • Assist with preparing design drawings, markups, and revisions using AutoCAD.
  • Review architectural and construction documents to understand project scope and design criteria.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and assist with coordination throughout the design process.
  • Communicate internally with sales, engineering, and plan review teams.
  • Support coordination with other MEP trades; exposure to BIM coordination is a plus.
  • Learn how to identify scope changes that may impact design time or cost.
  • Gain exposure to hydraulic calculations and fire sprinkler system concepts (training provided).

Job Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of AutoCAD experience (construction-related preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
  • Strong general computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Revit and/or Navisworks is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous field or construction exposure is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from a technical or construction-related program preferred, but not required.
